Ushas wasn’t sure this was the best idea she’d ever had. Still the Time Academy had never been quite right for her, but it did of course have the advantage of not being on Earth. While Theta Sigma had always seem faintly obsessed with the place she could never quite see the appeal herself. She had heard good things about Starfleet though and it wasn’t as if everyone there would be human, thank Rassilon! Anyway the fact was it was only a matter of time until Ushas’ experiments got her into some real trouble and she was thrown out of the Academy anyway. This was, in some way, a case of jumping before she was pushed. She wouldn’t miss the place of course, not the planet, nor her friends, such as they were. This was better. She would have a chance to be her own person, to start afresh without being tainted by her associations with Koschei and Theta Sigma and hopefully she would have a little more flexibility to carry out her experiments as she wished. She just had to remember not to attempt to drug or experiment on any of the other cadets. That was the sort of thing she’d probably get into trouble for after all and she was determined to try to be more friendly here.

Starfleet Academy was fairly impressive, she had to admit, as she walked onto the campus in her brand new cadet uniform. She wasn’t entirely sure about the little dress, but she didn’t suppose she had much say in the matter really. Strangely everything about the place seemed so much more modern than the Academy on Gallifrey despite the fact her home planet was thousands of years ahead of Earth. She supposed it was all to do with tradition. Gallifreyans were an old fashioned race after all, that was one of the reasons she’d wanted to get out so badly. This was a pleasant change - all the Earth technology. Finding the room for her maths class she lingered outside, taking in the crowd of humans and other species filing inside. She wondered idly if all the human looking cadets were human at all, or if she was the only one that looked the same whilst being completely different on a number of levels. She didn’t feel nervous, Ushas had not felt nervous since the age of 8 on her first day at the Time Academy, she was more interested than anything. With a quick reminder not to correct the tutors she entered the room and looked around for somewhere to sit. Perhaps she should have gone inside sooner, the number of choices were minimal, so she slipped into a seat beside a young curly haired boy, making an effort to smile, something which didn’t quite work after so long without having done so.
